Words of wisdom

En un mot...

I saw this "meme" (what's a meme? is this a meme?) on Monster Crochet and thought that was cool, so I'm in the wagon!

Please leave a one-word comment that you think best describes me--it can only be one word long. Then copy and paste this into your blog so that I may leave a comment about you.

This is not so much about fishing for compliments as it is an exercise showing how hard it is to use just one word to describe someone! (She said and I agree)

Give it a try & I'll do the same for you if you're so inclined.

Ice ice baby!

Ok, this is not about crochet... This is a cry for help...

HELP!

Help me please! I need an Ice-shaver

Ok, this could be an emergency... well it is in fact because it's steamlike hot here, and the summer hasn't begun yet!

I just want to buy a plain old ice-shaver, the kind of thing my mother uses in the west indies, my problem is I can't find one in France...

at all

I already tried to buy one in the US but the shipment cost was prohibitive. Thanks God the guys in Hawaii where kind enough to ask me if I really wanted the item despite the sipping cost, because silly me didn't check the shipment cost before placing the order (duh!).

So I thought I had better chances finding a cheap one at a cheap shipment cost

... in Spain. So I dove into the Spanish Web...

But my Spanish is rotten!

So here's where you come and rescue me, dear Spanish speaking reader : how do you say "ice-shaver" in Spanish?

I tried GRANIZADOR, GRANIZADORA, TRITURADORA DE HIELO, but those are huge machines used by either the fishing industry or large restaurants.

I just want a tiny ice-shaver to make me some freezing ice cones

Would you help me?

please?

Por favor!

White granny tank top

This is something I did a few years ago, while I was looking for the perfect crocheted summer top.

It's a pattern from Phildar Spécial Crochet printemps-été 1999 “aux couleurs de l’été",
which is a very good pattern catalogue, loaded with elegant and colourful little things, mainly tops and shirts.

Yarn : I think it's a bland of cotton and acrylic, it's softly shiny; 6 skeins says the pattern, I don't remember how much of it I used either. I would say 250g.

Crochet hook crochet n°3, back in those days I would use those with a plastic handle, I broke most of them because I used to crochet too tight.

Design : simple but effective.
48 squares and 4 half squares. Each square is 6cm wide, they are joined while crocheting (not afterwards). The back has 4 squares less than the front, the half squares go under the arms, straps and border are made of single crochet.

I sometimes wear it as a vest over a pale shirt, here I wear a tiny bra under it, so tiny it's not even my size, but it's the only one I have with straps thin enough not to get noticed (I swear you, all the fuss about being big breasted, it's all overrated... really.).
